Bonding is vital to make sure a team knows how to work together and everyone gets on well. Here are some ideas to get started with!
Do a Puzzle
Look online to find some more complicated brain teasers that will take a while to solve. Assign one to your group, then let them try to figure it out together. To encourage participation, try to find one that will play to everyone’s strengths. Solving a puzzle together will let the team identify their own and each other’s skills.
Fundraise Together
Why not have a charity event where everyone raises funds for a charity of their choice? They can choose the method – maybe bringing in cakes to sell, or doing sponsored jumping jacks! The team can then come together to discuss how they raised money and bond over the shared experience.
Have a Scavenger Hunt
Divide your team into pairs for this one and give them a list of items that they’ve got to find. Make sure these are things that are fairly easy to find around the office, for example, a red pen, a colleague’s signature, or a single staple. This one should just be a light-hearted one to encourage them to have fun together.
Mentor
Sometimes the best bonding activities are work-related ones. For this, pair up members of your team familiar with a particular process with those who need to learn more. Have the more experienced one explain it to the other one. This should help them to build stronger relationships and learn more about the other’s working methods.
Team Lunch
Take your team out for a meal over an extended lunch break and encourage conversation. The more relaxed environment should help them to bond on a more personal level.
