Work is stressful, no matter what you do. However, there are ways to combat this by making your workspace more Zen and relaxing for you.
Decor
The first thing to consider is your decor. A calming environment can easily be created just by adding a new rug or cushions, drawing the curtains, or adding a throw to a sofa to change its look. Choose shades that you like and find soothing.
Burn Candles
Once again, candles can have a very calming effect on you and create a gentle, flickering light. You could use scented candles (if you like them) to have a doubly-soothing effect.
Music
Calming music can also set a Zen-like tone. Steer more towards classical music to stay focused on your work. If you prefer, you can use a white noise machine to block out distractions and give you something subtle to listen to.
Lighting
Think about what sort of lighting you want in your office for it to be as Zen as possible. Dimmer light is best for relaxation; however, you still need to be able to see your work! Strike a balance somewhere between the two to get the perfect Zen workspace.
Tidy Your Workspace
Unfortunately, none of these adjustments will help that much if your workplace itself still looks a mess! Use a tidying strategy to declutter your desk and get everything sorted and neat. This will make your mind feel tidier, too.
