Andrew Garfield's Spidey Dreams Could Zig-Zag Into Weird Territory
- Apr 21, 2025
Ever been curious about the future of our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man? Well, Andrew Garfield, one of our favorite web-slingers, is here with a tantalizing hint.
In a recent chat at the Middle East Film & Comic Con (as reported by our pals at Entertainment Tonight), Garfield spilled the beans on his thirst for more Spider-flicks. He's not just keen on getting back into the Spidey suit; he's hankering after a bit of the uncanny. "I think I would like to do something very strange," that's what Garfield said. He's got his eyes on an unconventional, surprising, and offbeat story, much like the animated 'Spider-Verse' flicks.
Flashback to Garfield’s last appearance in 2021's "Spider-Man: No Way Home," he joined super-squad members Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire to skyscraper hop from New York to a massive $1.9 billion worldwide box office record.
But wait! Here's some more history. After 2014's "Amazing Spider-Man 2", Garfield's Spidey journey seemingly snapped to an abrupt halt. The film was considered a letdown at the box office, and Sony started sharing Spider-Man with Disney to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe party officially. Then came Tom Holland, who donned the Spider-suit with 2017's "Spider-Man: Homecoming."

Fast forward to the hit "No Way Home," and it's clear fans still have a soft spot for Garfield's version of the comic book hero. When quizzed with the comeback question by Esquire last year, Garfield conceded, "For sure, I would 100% come back…if there's a great concept or something that hasn't been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting…I love that character, and it brings joy."
However, Garfield isn't a stranger to rumor mills. He debunked the whispers to GQ UK earlier in the year that he was already penciled for "Spider-Man 4", confessing, "I know no one's gonna trust anything I say from now on." But he doesn't dismiss coming back to a superhero franchise, as long as it aligns with his soul – and his bank account for potential school fees!
Meanwhile, Tom Holland's next Spider-gig, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," is scheduled to delight us on July 31, 2026.
Here's hoping Garfield's strange dreams weave their way into the Spidey-verse soon for another epic adventure!
